![]() As most of you saw at UFC 106, Josh Koscheck submitted Anthony "Rumble" Johnson with a rear-naked choke to win not only his fight but Submission of the Night, as well. There were some awesome submissions from Kendall Grove (transition from arm-bar to triangle, from guard) and George Sotiropoulos (arm-bar using unique technique to free up arm). Regardless, Dana White made his decision and this was the winner. "Rumble" Johnson is a monster of a welterweight but his ground game has been suspect. It's obvious after this submission loss that it needs a lot of work. In this week's special Thanksgiving Day episode, Professor Correa demonstrates how to correctly defend the rear-naked choke in a similar situation. Watch, enjoy and learn. Also, go easy on the turkey dinner. Though this will help you escape a rear-naked choke, there's no helping you if you're gagging on a drumstick. You're on your own. |
